Betty Buzz part 1 [Review]

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard that superstar Blake Lively launched a non-alcoholic drink company. Typically when a celebrity attaches their name to a product, the usual questions come up. Is it worth the hype or is it just another celebrity using their fame and following to sell? TLDR? Skip to the rating.

When I first found out about Betty Buzz, I had mixed feelings. I’m not one to love celebrity products, as they’re generally not always the best quality – what you’re paying for is their name. However, I decided to give it a try anyways, especially after reading more about why she started the company – more on that later.

Dealcoholization process

Unlike dealcoholized wine, or spirits, Betty Buzz is what I would categorize as a Premade Potable. They start with water, or juice and with a combination of other ingredients, transform into a drink that can be enjoyed on its own or mixed with non alcoholic beverages. Since there is no alcohol in the product to begin with, there is no dealcoholization process.

TLDR: There is none.

Betty Buzz First Impressions

Over the past many years of mixing but not drinking cocktails, it became clear mixers are the unsung heroes of the drink world and deserve just as much love as alcohol.

We spent over three years crafting Betty Buzz and are so excited for people to finally taste it.

The first box I ordered was a mix of the Meyer Lemon Club Soda, Sparkling Grapefruit, and Sparkling Lemon Lime. It was the fastest way for me to try most of the flavors I normally enjoy. First impressions? It’s goooood. The delivery was quick; the packaging was beautiful. I love the thought she put into everything. From the bottle design to the exterior box, no detail was too small.

All the Small Details I love that under every bottle cap there’s even a cute little note.

What does Betty Buzz Sparkling Grapefruit taste like?

Delivers a tangy, lightly sweet and fresh citrus hit with 24% real Pink Grapefruit juice.

The Betty buzz sparkling grapefruit really tastes like grapefruit with a touch of sugar and very fizzy water. What makes this so much better than Ruby Red is the subtle bitterness that you get from fresh grapefruit juice – this makes it taste authentic. The bubbles and real fruit taste are a perfect balance – not too sweet, and perfectly flavorful. You really could enjoy this on its own, or mixed with another non-alcoholic drink.

Betty Buzz Sparkling Grapefruit Review and Rating

The Sparkling Grapefruit gets a deserved 5 sips!

The subtle bite of the drink gives it an edge over any other grapefruit drink I’ve had. The bubbles are also just fancy enough that it doesn’t make me feel like I’m just drinking juice. This is my second favorite flavor from Betty Buzz. They definitely got it right with this one! I’m interested in seeing what other mixed non-alcoholic drinks we can create using this as the base.

What does Betty Buzz Meyer Lemon Club Soda taste like?

Light, bright and citrusy with real Meyer Lemon juice and a touch of sea salt.

The Meyer Lemon Club Soda, unlike the Grapefruit flavor, has no sugar – so it’s definitely a different taste. However, just like the Betty Buzz grapefruit, the flavor is so spot on. If you’re picky about having a Meyer Lemon vs a Calamansi or Key Lime – and you can tell the difference between these citrus fruits – you’ll appreciate the distinctive taste.

Betty Buzz Meyer Lemon Club Soda Review and Rating

This one gets a 4 sip rating. It’s a very good lemon flavor, but very similar to a typical lemon sparkling water you’re probably familiar with.

The no sugar makes it an easy guilt-free to drink. It doesn’t get the full 4 sips because there are so many alternatives that are similar in taste. If you can taste the difference between a Meyer lemon and a typical lemon sparkling club soda, you might see the value in choosing this over the competition.

What does Betty Buzz Sparkling Lemon Lime taste like?

Crafted with real Meyer Lemon and lime juice, agave and a touch of sea salt.

True to the name, this one tastes more like lime. It’s a super bubbly citrus with a sour tinge. Still lemony-based but the lime flavor is definitely the star. Unlike the Meyer Lemon, the Sparkling lemon lime does contain agave syrup, so there is a hint of sweetness. However, compared to typical sweetened lemon drinks like sprite, the taste is very subtle and understated. Again, if you’re very picky with the drink pairings you’ll definitely appreciate the difference.

I like both the Sparkling lemon-lime and Meyer lemon, and don’t really have a preference for one over the other. If I have a craving for something with a little more sweetness to it, I would probably go with the Sparkling lemon. However, if I’m looking for a guilt-free drink or an unsweetened base to a mixed non-alcoholic drink, the Meyer lemon-lime is a perfect choice.

Betty Buzz Sparkling Lemon Lime Review and Rating

Due to the similarities between this and the Meyer lemon, the Sparkling lemon lime also gets 4 sips rating.

The flavors are definitely well paired and will work well to replace any other mixer on the market. The understated sweetness is the real winner. That being said, you can find somewhat similar products on the market. They may not provide the exact same experience as the Sparkling lemon lime, but could provide a slightly cheaper option.
