Petal Botanical Sparkling Drinks

I first discovered Petal on Instagram through one of their ads. Maybe previously I liked something on their page because shortly after, Petal ads relentlessly followed me around. What really caught my attention was all the “good” this drink promised. But does it live up to the splashy ads? Check out our review and find out! TLDR? Check out our rating.

About Petal Sparkling Botanicals

The idea for creating a line of sparkling botanical beverages was inspired by her two grandmothers and their love for tea.

We create each unique beverage using the finest natural extracts and essences, with just enough organic sweetness and plenty of sparkles. We call our approach botanical alchemy – an intuitive process that tunes us into the flavor power of each ingredient, guiding us to blend florals, fruits, and herbs into the perfect refreshment.

Transforming a childhood recipe for the mass market is admirable. It’s because, for the owner, these flavors personally bring much more than just the taste – they carry with them joyous memories of the past. When you introduce a cultural beverage to a new audience, it can be hit or miss. And the ones who do make it – think bubble teas, matcha, or even chai – had to be Americanized for the mass market.

Dealcoholization process

Petal beverages do not undergo a dealcoholization process and are not alcohol derivatives. Therefore, all Petal drinks fall under the Soft Drinks category.

Petal Sparkling Botanicals First Impressions

After receiving a promo, I ordered the Variety 12-pack with 2 bottles of each flavor. The shipping was quick and it arrived in a shrink-wrapped box shown on the website. The flavors were: Original Rose, Elderberry White Tea, Peach Marigold, Lemongrass Dandelion, Lychee Rose, and Mint Rose. This article will cover the 3 drinks in their lineup – this way you get a good idea of what their brand is about. If you’d like us to review it, let us know what you think in the comments below!

The ones we reviewed are the Mint Rose, Peach Marigold Basil, and Lychee Rose. I’m a huge fan of subtle rose flavors in drinks, so I was excited to taste the contrasting rose blend with the sweet lychee flavor versus the light minty flavor. Being a fan of basil as well, we were curious how they would blend the peach taste with basil in the Peach Marigold Basil.

What does Petal Mint Rose taste like?

When REBEL ROSE falls for MIGHTY MINT, it’s organic love at first sip. A hint of mint rocks her world and ours. Crisp, cool & refreshing, a minty rose sparkling sensation.

Possibly the most interesting thing about this bubbly was the color. You’d expect a green hue from the mint or pink for the rose, but instead, you get a very light purple color. There was no strong smell when you first opened the can, so it was tough to get an initial idea of the taste without actually taking a sip. The taste was akin to bubbly water with mint. The Rose flavor really didn’t hit me until the very end as a subtle aftertaste.

Petal Mint Rose Review and Rating

Rating 2 of 5 sips

This drink receives 2 sips from us. The flavors are good and all the ingredients are good for you – even the added color is derived from fruits and veggies. However, contrary to their claims, I didn’t feel the mood-enhancing or nerve-calming effects. From a taste perspective, it was pleasant but not something that left us desiring to have it again.

What does Petal Lychee Rose taste like?

When REBEL ROSE meets LOVELY LYCHEE, she says, “Where’ve you been all my life?!” Her sweet, exotic soul sister has arrived to add some fruit flavor to this floral party. It’s a taste of pure perfection to soothe your soul.

The color of the Lychee Rose was what you’d expect, a light pinkish-red hue. We could definitely smell the lychee flavor – which I would describe as sweet and juicy. The taste was very subtle but accurate to fresh lychee – not the canned ones. Then at the very end was a very light rose aftertaste. All the flavors played well together and didn’t overpower one another.

Lychee Rose Rating and Review

Of all the Petal flavors, this one definitely hit the mark – which earned it a 4 sip rating. If you’ve never experienced rose in a drink, this is definitely one to try! The lychee lightly compliments the rose and they both are balanced in the drink.

What does Peach Marigold Basil taste like?

When juicy PEACH meets tangy MARIGOLD, passion IGNITES in organic delight. A kiss of BASIL sweetens the mix, for a blast of wild summer SUN POWER all year round.

This Petal drink was light yellow in color. Instead of the expected basil and peach notes from the description, we were met with a medicine-like smell, similar to amoxicillin. The taste was also different from the smell. It was dry and had little to no peach flavor. The light flavors can be explained by the low-calorie count.

Peach Marigold Basil Rating and Review

The taste definitely didn’t match my expectation for a peach drink. Ultimately, we gave Peach Marigold Basil 1 sip. The taste was very disappointing and not something we’d try again.
